Dreamwork
“To live at the intersection of time and timelessness is the occupation of the saint.”
T.S. Eliot
Welcome, dreamer.
Our contemplative practices offer a path for us to pursue the intersection of time and timelessness in a conscious way. Spirit also provides a path to timelessness through our unconscious, through our dreams. When we work our dreams individually or in groups, we honor the content delivered through this sacred passage.
Our first dreamwork group began meeting in May 2023, and will be free through June, 2024. We meet monthly, with 90-minute-long sessions. This is an open group, so please reach out if you’re interested in joining.
A good start may be reading The Wisdom of Your Dreams by Jeremy Taylor, which presents a comprehensive view of both individual and group dream work. If you don’t already, start recording your dreams in a journal, or even by using the note-taking application on your mobile phone.
We don’t try to interpret meaning for the dreamer, rather we use a projective method to determine meaning from each dream for our own, individual benefit. Often, the dreamer will also benefit from the projections shared by the group. Advance knowledge of Jungian concepts is not at all necessary!
One-to-one dreamwork is a unique process, from person to person, from session to session. Though Carl Jung said, “A dream is its own best interpretation,” we can work together to invite the dream to reveal itself by exploring personal associations with the images, symbols, and narratives offered. All dreams come from the collective unconscious/psyche–a deep, expansive source I hold with great reverence. You may schedule 1:1 dreamwork with Sylvia here.

“Carl Jung developed language and methods for better understanding dream meanings – concepts like projection, archetypes, collective unconscious, anima, animus, and shadow. Because it is often difficult for the dreamer to analyze and understand messages from their own dreams, projective dream work is helpful for grasping dream meanings.”
“Sharing the stories our nightly dreams tell is an age old practice, one that has provided inspiration, entertainment and revelations throughout history. Dream work offers a method for healing old wounds, living more fully and joyfully each day, increasing self-awareness, improving understanding of our life purpose, and integrating new understandings. Each of these leads, in turn, to greater empathy and compassion.”
